If you just noticed minor spots of mold arise inside your home, chances are it’s just located on the surface of the wall.
First off, no matter how big or small the mold problem, the root cause needs to be addressed, whether that be a water leak, poor ventilation, excessive condensation, etc.
Once the root problem is remediated, and it has been confirmed that the mold is only located on the surface of the wall, there’s a simple solution you can make with a household cleaner that may remove the mold.
Regular household chlorine bleach and water is known to eliminate minor mold problems around your home. The solution can be made by mixing one cup of bleach with one gallon of water.
Once the two contents are mixed, grab a rag, dip it into the solution, and scrub the surface.
Remember, if your home experiences an incident causing major water damage, it only takes 72 hours for mold to begin spreading throughout your home, which can cause extensive damage to your home.
If you’re unsure if a mold problem in your home is a minor or significant case, it’s always best to consult with professionals to determine the severity; in the meantime, restrict access to the area with mold for pets, children, and yourself. SERVPRO of Hesperia/Apple Valley and SERVPRO of Barstow/Twentynine Palms can help you remediate your potential mold issue.
